Dynamic Range Compression

I have Dolby Dynamic Range Compression turned off in DVD Player because it really irritates me. However in Front Row, my DVDs' audio tracks are still suddenly quietened during clap-like assonant sounds ... thus I am still irritated!

Is there a miscommunication between the DVD Player's settings and Front Row, or is this a by-design behaviour? If the latter, is there a way to undesign the by-design behaviour?

The only DVD Player application preference I know of that Front Row reads is the choice between analog and digital audio out. I don't think Front Row is designed to read the DVD Player's preferences otherwise. I would suggest you continue to use the DVD Player application, for now, and send Apple some Mac OS X feedback:
