iPod touch Firewire Charging

Can the iPod touch be charged with an old Firewire power adapter?

MacBook 2GHz white coreduo, Mac OS X (10.4.10), 2 GB RAM

Nope, you must charge it via the USB cable to the computer to charge it. The old firewire cables dont fit

Yes, as long as you are using the FireWire to iPod Dock Connector cable.
The Firewire to Firewire cable will not work (since it doesn't fit).

I have been using the old firewire cable from my ipod mini, connected to my computer, and it fits and works...

what does everybody mean when it doesn't fit. Mine fits fine and charges. Its from the ipod clickwheel

The original iPods did not have the dock connector and had a regular firewire port (#2) like this.

Also note that you cannot use firewire, even with a dock connector on the other end of the cable, on the new universal docks! It will NOT supply power to the iPoT.
