Firmware update for Alpine stereo

I just got a new Alpine car stereo that has an iPhone plug. The installer said I need a firmware update for it to work. When I plug it in, I get the incompatibility message. How/where do I get this?

Thanks ~

I could be wrong, however I just looked up your radio on the Alpine web site and it says it is iPod compadable not iPhone. There are many iPod products that do not work with the iPhone. As far as I know there is no Firmware update that you can get to fix the issue. I have a 1/2 dozen or so items that do not work with my iPhone and work with my iPod only ...

Again, I could be wrong ....

Look what I just found on Alpine's website:
What iPhone software version shall I have, when connecting to an Alpine head unit or A/V head unit?
In order for the iPhone to work properly with "Ready for iPod"/"Full Speed connection" head units or A/V head units, you must have software version 1.0.1 or later updated on your iPhone. You can update your iPhone using the update function within your iTunes® application.

So I can update via iTunes?

More info from Alpine
What shall I expect when I connect an iPhone to my Alpine head unit?
For iPhone Users:
A message will be displayed on the iPhone whenever it is plugged in to an Alpine product via Full Speed iPod cable. This is a normal iPhone function, and neither the iPhone nor the Alpine unit will be damaged by this connection. If you do not turn "ON" airplane mode, you may hear radio interference through your sound system.

Reference: From the iPhone User Manual
If the iPhone shows a message saying "This accessory is not made to work with iPhone".
If you connect iPhone to an accessory not specifically made for it, iPhone may ask if you want to turn "ON" airplane mode. This is to eliminate radio interference from cellular signals coming from iPhone. You may be able to use iPhone with the accessory whether or not you turn "ON" airplane mode. If you turn "ON" airplane mode, you won't be able to make calls, send or receive text messages, access the internet. or use Bluetooth devices with iPhone until you disconnect iPhone from the accessory or turn off airplane mode.
