Can This Be Done????

Can files from "Person A's" external hard drive, connected to a windows machine be transfered to my ("Person B") external hard drive connected to my Mac over the internet?

If so, how???

Thanks for sharing,

Have them make a zip of their file, and e-mail you the zip file. If the message bounces, check with the internet service provider on both end what is the maximum mail attachment size they will allow, and send in smaller chunks.

That would get over any hurdles such as setting up protocols, VPN or network mountable volumes, and prevent you from having to monitor your IP address at the moment they try to connect to you, or get a dyndns account.

LOL, jdelima, that's exactly the conclusion I came to. He's about 100 miles away, but worth the trip. Even if I could figure things out from my end (and I'm not saying I could,) I doubt he could follow suit.

Besides, it's not good for the old "bandwidth" equation. There's about 300 gig of files to transfer which takes about 10 hours with a direct connection on his computer.

Thanks to everyone!! Marking this question answered.
