Radiation from a brand new imac

I have just bought the latest imac and found very quickly that it seems to emitting radiation. Took it to the shop but was all within specification though no test for electromagnetic radiation done. I have used computers for twenty years now and have a crt and a flat screen at present but do not have any problems with them. I initially found that i got a headache and felt tired and had vision problems. Toned down the brightness but with little affect. I had my eyes tested by optomiterist and told I had 20/20 vision and no colour blindness. I am using the 17" screen imac which is really clear and crisp but I get tired using it and have to go onto the other computers to get work done. Without help I will have to sell it and buy another computer. If anyone out there can help I would appreciate assistance.

Welcome to Apple Discussions!

Have you tried Shades for controlling the brightness of your screen.

When I try and use the main system brightness control at the lower levels the display tends to have uneven strips that are lighter and darker. Shades seems to more evenly reduce the brightnes with a slight blue/gray tint instead of the main controls graying. Try it with the main brightness set at max then adjust shades to a comfortable level.

Thanks for the shades suggestion, it does help with the brightness on the screen. It however does not stop the radiation problem. I have turned of the blue tooth and airport off which are obvious sources, which I note no one talked about. I have however managed to reduce the effect by placing a strip of aluminium wrap foil over the top portion of the moinitor where I have been told the aerials are placed. I suspect these are still operating even when off. Can anyone help me with this problem as I will be grateful for assistnce.

Actually, it's bizarre, but some people really are affected by some sources of electromagnetic radiation that very few other people are affected by. This is a real phenomenon. Maybe not as common as some of the people who think they're affected by it really are, but some people genuinely do feel effects. Don't know why.

However, LCD panels don't (or shouldn't) emit any sort of electromagnetic radiation that anyone can feel, as long as the LCD is working properly. If Dunlorprl's problem really is due to EMF, it's more likely to be caused by a defective Airport antenna, or something else. Maybe there's a shielding or grounding issue.

But I tend to think there's probably something different about Dunlorprl's iMac's LCD's visual characteristics that are affecting him. Maybe there's something wrong with the LCD's refresh rate.
