Airport Extreme Gigabit with WPA on windows machine HELP!

I have a Mac Powerbook and an iPhone. When I setup my Airport Extreme Gigabit last night with a WPA password it worked fine on my MAC and iPhone, but my wifes Windows XP Pro laptop will not connect.

So...I set up a WEP password and all 3 devices worked fine.

Question...Everyone says WEP is not as secure. Will the PC hook up to WPA...if so what am I doing wrong?

Thanks

but WEP, 128, is not bad either.

True, but only when compared to no encryption at all. Both 64- & 128-bit WEP use a 24-bit Initialization Vector (IV) that is sent "in the clear" with ciphertext. It only take a million or so packets to be "sniffed" in order to crack it. With tools, readily available from the Internet, most can be cracked under a minute.

My wireless card is a DLink DWL-G510. This is supposed to be compatible with WPA, as it is IEEE 802.11g. I have Windows XP SP2 with WZC and using Windows to configure the connnection. The Airport Extreme N is set to WPA2/WPA Personal or something like that.

Do I need to turn on Interference Robustness or try a different multicast rate?

Hello jamalm. Welcome to the Apple Discussions!

According to the D-Link Manual for this product, it is only capable of either 64- or 128-bit WEP encryption. Fyi...just because a device is 802.11g-compliant, does not necessarily mean it is WPA-compatible.
