Help with converting VTS.VOB files into anything quicktime can play

I downloaded videos but I can't open them, I guess it is because of the file type, which extension is VTS.VOB.
Does anybody know how to convert this into anything Quicktime can play, like MPEG?
Thanks 🙂,
Vitor

Thats a little unfair. I have archived my old home movies to dvd and thus vob files using a philips dvd recorder with firewire input. Now i would like to re edit these with my lovely new Mac. Not all converters are thieves and we should steadfastly treat each other with the respect due to fellow humans. If they are dishonest then they will suffer in the long run, lets not let those who are dishonest provoke negative attitudes in ourselves. I have found a programme HANDBRAKE invalid in reediting this archive.
Please dont put this information to poor use.

Taking you at your word:

You need to convert the VOB files back to DV which iMovie is designed to handle. For that you need mpegStreamclip:

http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/video/mpegstreamclip.html

which is free, as well as the the Apple mpeg2 plugin :

http://www.apple.com/quicktime/mpeg2/

which is a mere $20.

Obviously the foregoing only applies to DVDs you have made yourself, or other home-made DVDs that have been given to you. It will NOT work on copy-protected commercial DVDs, which in any case would be illegal.
