Macbook Pro Screen has a streak/bruise - what can I do?

Hey all,

Problem: I have a 3-4 inch 'streak' across the middle of my screen that can most readily be described as a 'bruise.' It's most visible on when in low-light conditions on a dark background, but can be seen during the daytime as well (not as defined, but definitely still there).

When I originally had my MBP shipped to me, this was one of the first things that I noticed. It is not a problem that has developed over time, it came like this directly from the factory. It's very annoying because I'm a graphic/web/print designer and this streak really gets in my way when I'm trying to work.

What can I do here? Surely, since this is a factory defect, I can bring it in to get a new screen or something -- I'm still protected by AppleCare for another long while.

I've attached a picture so that you can see more clearly how large and obtrusive this streak is. Here's the link: http://kevinfales.ca/images/screen-bruise.jpg

Thanks in advance for any info.

I had similar effects from handling my mbp. my screen is the glossy one. i had tried using all sorts of wipes with no real luck.

I was at walmart last week and found a new product by philips. It's called 'Philips Screen Cleaning Gel for Plasma & LCD.' It's a blue liquid/spray gel and comes with one of those lint free eye-glass wipes. It worked wonderfully!

Only about $9. Its a good size bottle so it should last quite a while.

good luck
