My unmodded iPhone was bricked by 1.1.1

I heard somewhere that the 1.1.1 update is bricking legitimately AT&T activated pre-pay iPhones, which is what I have. I'm just angry and I want to know what is really going on with the 1.1.1 update... Does anybody know?

Mine just acts like it's restoring and the firmware is being updated and then BAM! back to the SIM error. I tried SHIFT clicking the restore button and everything and it still keeps going back to the Invalid SIM. Tech support told me to go get a new ATT sim card but it's well documented on the internet this doesn't fix it. Why are they making me waste my time!?

Really, over a million phones sold and update complaints appear overwehlming? This upgrade went without a hitch for me on 3 phone. Yes some individuals have problems and I am sure they can be fixed. Stop jumping to general conclusions and start to figure out what the problem is. Trying Apple tech support would be a good place. Why jump on the forum to make unsubstatiated claimes. I bet most are happy with the upgrade. Use some logic and use some other suggestions in other parts of the forum to help you fix your phone. The term bricked is just overused and without good reason. How many times have you done upgrades on other software that did not go as planned. Bet you got that straightened out with tech support easily enough. It's time to stop this constant accusitory attitude everyone seems to have when things don't go as planned. Take a breath and start again. With a little research and advice you can get up and running without conclusions that don't make sense.
