Help! Converted music videos have no sound!

After converting a couple of music videos (using Advanced > Convert selection for iPod), I synched to my nano. The video played well on the nano but without sound. Played on iTunes, the converted videos are also without sound.

Can someone help me out here?

Hi, I am having exactly the same problem. I have just purchased a new Nano 3rd gen and have transferred video into itunes and converted it to play on ipod exactly as it tells you, and I must say the original video played on the itunes ok - but was in the wrong format to put onto the ipod, but when it was converted to play on ipod it now neither plays on itunes or ipod only get the visuals and no sound whatsover - really frustrating, so if anyone can help us both please please do.

It's so good of you to write. I bought my nano just yesterday and have been at it ever since. I was just about to tear my hair out in frustration when you replied. It's such a relief to hear my problem isn't particular to me alone. I've been trying everything I can think of but it all doesn't work. I wonder if there is something wrong with the conversion software. Hmm... maybe we can try doing the conversion using some other software.

Oh well, back to more experimentation. This sure is getting to be a lot of work. Perhaps Apple is doing this intentionally to force us to make purchases from their iTunes store.

Hmmm...that's strange, I have no problems at all. I tried using the freebie version as I'm such a cheapskate and it worked perfectly except that every few seconds the words "Converted using an unregistered version" appeared over the video. This was so extremely annoying I promptly paid the US40 bucks for the registration. Now all my music videos work wonderfully.

Currently converting the Bruce Willis movie "Perfect Stranger" which I ripped from the DVD using the converter as well. I think paying 40 bucks is pretty steep especially since Apple should have packaged a workable converter but I must say that the AVS tools are pretty nifty.

Weird that, it made my nano corrupt!! goodness knows why. I have found another convertor which can be found here. http://www.applian.com/replay-converter/demo.php you can convert most things, but yes now my nano plays sound as well as the video. the freebie version only allows you 90 seconds of time, which was enough to see if it worked or not. Now to pay the $30 for the full version. Phew this has been hard work 😉

Did that AVS software manage to convert a dvd to use on your nano? And can you tell me how much memory it took up? 20 questions huh 😉 Got another issue now I'm about to send a post a bout and that's when I download library art, its gone the next time I open itunes, also keep getting the error message that the library is damaged and its going to make a new one! when will it end 😟

Yeah, ValJG, AVS Tools works without a hitch with everything I throw at it. Perfect Stranger is from a DVD. The movie size is 539MB in MP4 format. Since AVS Tools is a package of 4 software, the 40 bucks isn't that bad.

ValJG, I'm not sure if your crash was caused by the AVS software. Did you download 1.0.1 version of iTunes? If you experience a problem, I think you should just reset your iPod first instead of reverting to original settings.
