First, make sure the date and time are correct on your computer.

On your iPhone go to Settings -> General -> Date & Time.
Turn Set Automatically on.

If your computer time is correct and
Set Automatically is on then the only thing that it could be is either
a glitch in your phone or that the cell service is sending you
the wrong time.

I am having the exact same problem and I cannot even find a pattern to what it changes the time and date to. I have tested this a few times today and each time the date is different. This happens every time I plug in the iPhone, I don't even have to sync it. As soon as I plug it in the date changes to some random date and the time also changes. Has anyone been able to fix this?

I tried every time and date setting I could find on the phone with no luck. I powered on and off and also tried a soft reset. The time and date on my computer are fine. when I turn automatic off and then back on, everything goes back to normal.

jmargari,

Under Settings > General on the iPhone, do you have your Date & Time set automatically or manually? If the automatic setting does not appear to be working, you can try setting it to manual.

If manually setting the date and time does not work, you may need to restore the iPhone back to factory settings. Make sure all of your information is backed up on your computer before completing this, as it will erase all of your information. For more information on restoring your iPhone, check out this article:

Hope this helps,

Ok, this is strange, but I believe I discovered the problem. I sync my iPhone to two different computers. My work laptop for the calendar, and my home laptop for everything else. Often times I leave my work laptop running all night and many times I will leave iTunes running all night. Well, I discovered that if I close iTunes and then open it again, this strange time date behavior stops and it works properly. It worked properly for the rest of the day. Then I left iTunes open again all night and when I came back into the office the next day the problem was there again. I close iTunes and re-opened it and again, the problem was fixed. I'll do a bot more testing on this to see what exactly is going on and report back if I find anything further.

I too have this problem, and yes, already have timezone set on both iPhone and PC. Pattern amongst those reporting it seems to be we're all using Windows and have upgraded to newest iTunes. Only happens when I physically dock (not when I keep phone in doc and hit "sync" in iTunes).

Two workarounds:
1) Settings > Airplane Mode > toggle
2) Settings > General > Date & Time > Set Automatically > toggle

Still annoying, date and time that iPhone gets set to seems random.

I also think you are right. I was having the same problem after the upgrade and after reading your email I realized that I leave iTunes application on when I put my laptop into stand by mode and when next day when I reconnect, I get date out of sync. I closed iTunes application and restarted it. That fixed the time on iPhone right away.

Thanks for the tip.
