Shift Key Issue...

While typing, I used to be able to tap the shift key once in order to capitalize the first letter of the word I was about to type, after the capitalized letter was inserted, they keyboard would automatically disengage the shift key and return to lowercase lettering...

Now however, when I tap the shift key once it stays on permanently until I tap it again to disengage it...

I am not double tapping the shift key to enable capitals either...

I just noticed this after the update...Not sure if they're related...

Yes, I've seen the same thing, except I noticed it the first time I replied to an e-mail.

It's supposed to disengage after the first character is capitalized I expect it to turn off.

I went in under Settings -> General -> Keyboard and turned OFF auto-capitalization, and now it's behaving like I expect. Hit shift, it highlights, type letter that's capitalized, then shift turns off.

The problem then is you can't double tap to get caps lock, where the shift key turns blue and never turns off unless you tap it again.

While turning off auto-capitalization does work, and the shift key works like it used to, you do lose the auto-capitalization.

I have done a full restore as well, and it's still broken.

Normally you enable it on so you can double-tap for "blue capslock" key... are you saying now it will always stay on if capslock enabled? I am only having this problem in Mail settings, maybe its a bug

Ok after some more testing I've found that turning off the new '. ' when double tapping space feature returns the shift key to normal operation.

So if I have auto-capitalization on, caps lock on and the new '. ' tap space feature off it works the way I expect it to.

I have the same issue, only in Mail settings tho. I am restoring my iphone now for a possible fix

Under settings - Keyboard - there is a setting for ENABLE CAPS LOCK - if its turned ON - this could be causing your problem - turn it off if you don't want CAPS on after tapping....
