cannot access gmail account on iphone browser - any ideas?

I can't sign in to my gmail account through my iphone web browser. after submitting my login information the site tells me incorrect login and password, even though they are correct. i can log in to any other password site from my iphone. has anyone found a reason or solution for this?

this method of accessing my gmail is, of course, my last resort. i have tried every single way of accessing my gmail on my iphone, but pop server and iphone refuse to communicate. enabling pop, manually configuring my account, using recent mode, forwarding from other accounts... none have worked to get my gmail account to communicate with iphone. even iphone help said they didn't have a solution, good luck. help!
