Keyboard shortcut to open Safari?

N00b here - just got my first iMac - looking for a keyboard shortcut to open Safari.

I realize there might not be a preset one, so I tried to create one. No dice.

Ideally I'd love to have a single button to open Safari.

iMac, Mac OS X (10.4.10)

Thank you, I had in fact considered that, and I may well be pushed to do that. But I'd rather not since I don't use Safari every time I get on the computer and the basic problem will remain if I close Safari and later on decide to open it again, which is highly common.

Also, thanks to the person who suggested the 3rd party software. Right now I'm trying to keep downloads to a minimum, but it's good to know that stuff is out there.

I tried to click the 'Helpful' button on both your posts, but just got some random error message. Meh.
