airport menu bar on top is kinda slow

ok this is nothing new for my model but im just curious if it only happens in mine: my airport status menu on top is kinda slow whether it is like switching networks or whenever i select it. this never happened in my previous ibook g4.

MacBook (Black) Core 2 Duo, Mac OS X (10.4.8), iPod Video Black (80GB)

I have the same thing. I think it has to do with the way that the airport is set up now. Since it's 802.11n enabled, there's more parts involved, with the multiple antennas. Also, I think that it has something to do with passive scanning that is normal versus the active scan you require when you want to see the networks. I am not an expert at all, but that's how I understand it.

yeah my airport menu is also slow. even if i just click on it, it takes at least a second before anything loads--but that's only when i'm connected. if i'm offline, and click on it, then it responds immediately.

i was wondering if it was just my computer, too.
