Multiple header cells

I understand how to make the top row on a table a header row that will appear on all pages of a multiple page sheet.

Is it possible to get the top 2 rows (or any other number, for that matter) to act as a header row as well? I would like more than one row of the first printing page of a sheet to appear on all sheets.

Thanks.

Simple solution to the multiple header rows.

Apple could change Numbers to allow multiple header rows and then you could select which row would be used as the "Master" rows for all the nice column named items. I would think this would be fairly simple and would make my life easier for sure.

Filtering also becomes a problem with more than one row containing header information. Filtering and sorting always use the header row as a key. So I'm sort of screwed in this case as well.

Not being able to select where I start filtering my data and also allowing multiple filters on data would be helpful too. But that's a different subject.

Using a second line is a fair work-around. It hoses the column naming features, though.

Another less acceptable work-around is putting another table above your table to contain headings. The downside to this is adding columns and moving them around is cumbersome, if not, impossible to manage.

I work in a bi-lingual environment and often need a heading in English and one above or below in Japanese.

I've reported this as a problem to Apple.

Would be nice to have more than one header row and then select a preference as to which one will be used in your formulas.

Your right about the Column naming feature. I normally turn it off since I like to see my ranges written out for me. Didn't think of that part. Good catch. The table over a table is also a good workaround for the moment.

On the other hand, I can see the same problems occuring if they make multiple column headers availble, which one becomes the 'correct' header. You open yourself up to the "But I want the second row to be the 'proper' header, not the first" complaint then.

How about just using the second row as a fake header and format it to look the same as the first true "Header row"? It also messes up the header info in formulas, but would look correct.

Hello

CAUTION: the column header plays two roles:

- 1 - it may contain "column title"
- 2 - it may be used to fill the entire column with a single formula.

How will you manage this second role if we have several headers ?

Perhaps you don't see this feature but we may have several fonts, styles, colors in a same cell.
I think that this feature would be useful to use a single header as a multiple one playing with one or several attributes.

And this forum is not the better way to send a request about Numbers.
Most of us are users trying to help other users, we aren't Apple employees.

This forum is rarely entered by Apple engineers so the hope to get one of them reading your post is near zero.

It would be more efficient to use the standard track:

go to "Provide Numbers Feedback" in the "Numbers" menu and describe your wishes 😉

In addition to recommending multiple rows be allowed as headers, I have also provided feedback to Apple asking for multiple columns to be allowed on the left.

I find myself creating files in Numbers because I like some of its functionality, then exporting to excel to print in a usable manner. Very frustrating. I have provided feedback to Apple as suggested on this forum and hope others to do.

If Apple would get a few of us business users in a room together (even virtually) we could provide feedback that would make Numbers better than excel.

In the meantime, allowing better viewing (no freeze pane option) and better printing would be MOST appreciated.
