using .docx-to-.html dashboard widget converter

Question

using .docx-to-.html dashboard widget converter

I've downloaded docx-converter.wdgt from the apple site in order to be able to read .docx files created by windows office 2007 and sent to me as attachments. The widget has installed fine on the dashboard. However, it seems that to use the widget, I need to drag the file onto the widget icon in the dashboard, and the dashboard fades when I click on the desktop to grab & drag the file icon. I've tried dragging the icon directly onto the dashboard icon with no luck.
Thanks in advance for any advice.

MacBook, Mac OS X (10.4.9), (10.4.10 does not work on this macbook)

Start dragging the file, then, without releasing the mouse button, press F12 to get the dashboard, then drop the file on the widget.

You could try NeoOffice. It is supposed to handle .docx files

I've got the same problem. I found the PF12 method in the "how-to" on the converter's web page. However, when I push PF12 on my Mac, the "eject" symbol appeared, not the dashboard. Dashboard preferences are set to PF12 being dashboard. No helper keys helped. So, I set the Dashboard preferences temporarily to use the middle mouse button for Dashboard and then was able to get the file to drag to the widget. The conversion didn't work, however. I think that the .docx file I was sent isn't any good. Thanks Microsoft.

Hello i'm also having a problem with this widget...

ps i cannot find a "support" or "help" page on the website for this widget... i've emailed the site with no responce so far...

my issue...

once i convert the file it is no where to be found even after i check the box for open in browser...

please help

You must go to system preferences to set an F key as a shortcut for the dashboard so that you can open and close the dashboard without releasing your mouse. you can technically assign any shortcut not just f12. If you do assign F12 then click and drag the doc and press f12 while dragging so that the dashboard stays up while you drag to drop zone. hope this helps!
