Mini Gigabit error - 2 Pair Downshift detected

Hi,

I have a C2D Mini and all my machines are on a Gigabit network.

On the Mini, when ethernet is set up in automatic mode, the log correctly reports:

"Oct 2 13:18:46 OfficeMac kernel[0]: AppleYukon - en0 link active, 1000-Mbit, full duplex, symmetric flow control enabled"

... and the mini sends files , etc, at gigabit speeds.

However, when on automatic settings, after a random period of time, I see the message:

Oct 2 13:18:52 OfficeMac kernel[0]: AppleYukon: 00000010,00000270 skgesirq - AppleYukon: error - 2 Pair Downshift detected
Oct 2 13:18:52 OfficeMac configd[40]: AppleTalk startup
Oct 2 13:18:52 OfficeMac kernel[0]: AppleYukon - en0 link active, 100-Mbit, full duplex, symmetric flow control enabled

... and the mini functions at 100-mbit speeds.

So I changed the Ethernet settings to manual, AFTER changing the cables and plugging it into the same switch port as my other machines which are functioning normally, and all is well and the Mini functions at normal gigabit speeds.... clearly a situation I could live with so no problem for the past month with one exception.

I have the mini set to either sleep OR shut down in the evenings, and I notice in the log the following log entry every morning , when it starts up automatically or wakes automatically.

"Oct 1 06:00:33 OfficeMac kernel[0]: AppleYukon: 00000010,00000270 skgesirq - AppleYukon: error - 2 Pair Downshift detected
Oct 1 06:00:33 OfficeMac kernel[0]: AppleYukon - en0 link active, 100-Mbit, full duplex, symmetric flow control enabled"

... and the mini begins the day at 100 Mbit speeds.

This is repeatable on the Mini, but not on the other machines.

I reset the ethernet by either unplugging it and plugging it back in, or switching to airport and back again and it returns to the manual settings and it's good for the rest of the day.

Anyone experiencing this behavior? Is there a known reason for it?

If it is the port or hardware/cables/ports/plugs, it seems highly selective to me in that it only seems to happen when the ethernet panel settings are on automatic, or during automatic wake up/startup, in the manual mode (with gigabit settings selected).

Thanks for your assistance,
Jamy
