USB Hub Inhibits Sleep Mode

I recently attached a Belkin Hi-Speed USB 2.0 4-Port Hub to a USB port on my G5. Now, 5 out of 10 times when I put my G5 to "sleep", it immediately "wakes up". If I disconnect the Hub, "sleep" mode works every time. Has anyone had a similar experiance?

I have Belkin's 7 port hub plugged into my G5 and it definitely does not prevent sleep. My guess is that something that you have plugged into that hub (such as a scanner or printer), is preventing the G5 from sleeping.

Try unplugging everything from the hub and see if you can reproduce the problem. If it sleeps everytime, then start plugging items in one at a time until you find the one that prevents sleep.

It may be as easy as turning off the offending device before putting the G5 to sleep.

Thanks for your reply. Unpluging my HP LaserJet 1022 from the hub does eliminate the problem.

However, turning off the printer each time I "sleep" is not an acceptable solution. I replaced the Belkin hub with a $16. Kensington (4-port) pocket hub and the problem did not occur with the new hub.

I don't know why the Belkin acted that way with the HP printer but I'm satisfied that the problem is gone
