Add my device woes to the pot. ATV is not in my device list in iTunes.

Based on what I am reading on the forum, I will add my specs to the conversation. We have a MacBook and a MacBook Pro. Since I travel with the latter, I removed ATV from my list and tried to connect using the MacBook. We are in a wireless environment, using Airports on each floor. I did a factory reset on ATV, assigned it to our Mac wireless network, and cannot find ATV on iTunes. There seems to be an issue here than Apple is not being forthcoming about. Any help is appreciated.
