Volume limited on EU Ipods?

Are the EU Ipods volume limited as in previous ipod generations? just curious as i am interested in getting a touch but when i was in the shop testing it, it just didn't sound very loud even at maximum volume? especially when compared to my 5g Ipod Video.

24" Imac Intel Core 2 Duo, Mac mini Core Duo, Mac OS X (10.4.9)

Yes ter is a limit. Apple caps the volume in EU countries due to an EU directive.

Either get your ears tested or buy some noise isolation earphones. I never have my touch above 60% and I am used to having it at 100%. I am not pushing earphones but since I got some I have not wanted anything else. They stop all the background noise so you dont need to push it to the max just to hear your music. Oh and I used the volume limit remove tool for my 5th gen. Now it seems i will turn back to the eu limit on my 5th gen.

The only people who say it is too quiet are listerning on poor quality earphones, ie anything under £80.

Mine is more than loud enough, remember there is a good reason that it is limited, so you don't go deaf!

Yes that is true, although sometimes it depends on how well an album has been produced, you get quiet albums ect and these never sounded loud enough on the EU limited ipods, also i don't see why i should have that decided for me that i can't have my ipod as loud as it was intended to go, ie the US version.

when you turn the limit off it really is not much louder, only a few dB's

tend to disagree there, i have a US ipod 5th gen and my girlfriend has a EU one, the difference in volume is quite a bit, i can put hers to maximum volume without and it sounds a normal volume, i can achieve the same volume on my US ipod at 70%, so that is quite a bit
