Scrolling through contacts?

Sometimes I find myself needing to slowly scroll through my list of contacts, for example: I want to invite people to a party, and looking at each name in the list helps me decide who I want to invite. Problem is, when I scroll throught the list by "flicking", it goes too fast, and I overshoot, missing names. If I go slowly, I invariably hit a name and it jumps to that name's contact info, OR I hit the index alphabet on the right side of the list and I jump to "Z" from where I am... VERY ANNOYING! Is there a way to leisurely scroll through my contact list from A to Z, and just read the names?

I can't believe this obvious feature could be so poorly designed, so clearly I'm doing something wrong..Anyone have any hints?

Thanks, Dave

This only works if you don't have a lot of contacts. Once you highlight the letters bar, it scrolls from the beginning of each letter but not thourghout the available contacts in that letter.

I was just playing with it and paying attention to what I was doing....you just have to touch the bottom or top(depending on if you are going up or down), and then make sure you do not lift your finger at all. You can scroll slowly, and when you reach the end, lift up finger and do it again. As someone said earlier, if it highlilghts, just start scrolling...it will not go to your contact that you highlights unless you lift your finger of the contact without scrolling.

Definitely appears as though this was done by design for slow scrolling.

Hope we have all helped!
