Hi, can't seem to find an answer to this situation on this forum, plugging in ipod causes Vista to start searching for drivers that it does not find, iTunes 7.4 popped one window suggesting the device be reset, but window disappeared never to return.
Tried the 5 Rs that Apple suggests, resetting, reformatting, redoing everything. Succeeded in deleting all content from the shuffle 2G (thanks Apple), then the PC recognized it long enough to load a couple of new songs, then has failed to recognize the Shuffle again in Vista, instead indicating a nonfunctional USB drive.
Also spoke with HP support for the desktop PC, who advised me that all rear USB ports are at full power, while those on the front (none on my PC) are not necessarily at full power. FYI.
Hi, I have new PC with Windows Vista, my ipod classic works OK on this PC, iTunes locates it and can transfer music successfully, however I also have 2 ipod Shuffle's which Vista recognises and asks me to install drivers from the CD that came with the ipods, but the shuffle does not have any drivers. iTunes does not detect these shuffle's either, so I cannot use them via this PC, however they do work on another Windows XP PC I have, so there is nothing wrong with the Shuffle's.
I have the latest iTunes installed - version 7.4.3.1, but it still does not detect these Shuffle's.
It is Windows Vista that appears to be the problem, but only with this one version of the iPod.
Any help would be really useful as I have all my tunes on my Vista PC and did not want to have to make copies on my old windows XP PC.
Thanks, Fred
OK found a solution for my machine. DO NOT use USB ports that may be subdivided (such as one cable to the monitor which has two USB ports). Plugged into back of PC, seems to work fine. Humph.
Same problem here...this is really frustrating, I've tried every USB port on my comp and the only thing I get is the stupid "New USB Devcice Found" and then the searching for drivers window. Someone please give us a solution to this problem!
