Music is now classified as Other on Ipod and cannot be accessed

Hi, something weird just happening. My Ipod was plugged in, and then the computer gave me the "This USB device could be faster" message I get when I plug it in.

Then I realize " _'s Ipod" is now in all caps. Then I look at my music, and nothing is there. I look at the main menu, and while the music is a 0, the OTHER is at 12 gigs, coincidentally the size of my music collection.

Is there any way I can get it back to being music?

5th generation 80 gig, Windows XP

Have you had a look at this troubleshooting page? Windows confuses iPod with network drive and songs may seem to disappear

Failing that, try restoring your iPod. Restoring will erase the iPod's hard drive, reload the software and put it back to default settings. Once the restore is complete follow the on screen instructions and it should connect to iTunes and give you a prompt to automatically update your library onto the fresh installation. If you want to update manually or using selected playlists choose no and it will default to manual mode and you can choose whatever setting you like: Restoring iPod to factory settings with iTunes 7
