Check the settings with your bank account. Sometimes, the personal settings are different for each of the different notifications.

could have something to do with the fact that you are actually running with MMS, not SMS?

Just a geuss. Have them switch it to your email address if the problem becomes unresolvable. You will get it in your email folder instead.

yeah well i'm having the same problem 2 😟
seems that the sms app automatically and SILENTLY deletes incoming text messages from alphanumeric senders... so i'm not receiving messages from my bank, nor any kind of messages sent from a website... the only messages i can receive are messages sent from a mobile phone, and it's really ******* me off...
i've been searching google for 2 days, but can't find a solution... :(((
i think it's something related with the sms database, it supports only numeric fields... maybe there's a way of modifying this field?

hey friends i have problem with my text sms, whenever i open my text sms, it closes & comes back to main menu. It displays me that there are new messages in my inbox, but as i open my sms, it goes back to main menu

Best suggestion I can give for times like this is a full reboot.

hey mate... iam having the same problem with my i-phone..when ever i open the msg dialogue..it opens and then closes automatically...is ur problem rectified...how did u you do it...

I'm having the same issue. Not receiving SMS from my bank or service provider.

I spoke with my "network service provider" about this and they tell me that it's something to do with the device blocking or not accepting "marketing messages". Most phones have a settings pane which allows you to opt in or out of "marketing messages". Indeed, if I put my SIM in another phone, the messages come through fine.

So I guess that's that. Until there's a fix at least.

I got an SMS from someone nd when I tried to view it ...it didnt open
not only didnt it open...the whole SMS feature is blocked.
if i press sms button it opens and closes automatically...im unable to view any sms now..
ive restarted the phone but the problem still remain.

do a full restore with version 1.1.1....

unfortunately version 1.1.1 doesnt solve the problem.
i tried it on my friend's new 1.1.1 iphone, almost the same problem...
His phone receives all kinds of messages, including messages with alphanumeric sender or short-digit senders, but these messages are garbage and unreadable... apparently the sender's name comes trimmed, i.e the last character is missing, and the message body is either empty, or garbage characters... ah and one more thing: the date of garbage messages is like 11/07/2000 !!!!
i hope version 1.1.2 solves this...

I have the same problem with my iPhone, whenever I open the sms icon, it opens back to the main page. Please advise if you have solved the problem.

I spoke to my bank about this same issue, they are aware of the issue and working with o2 in the UK to look at it, 1.1.2 doesn't resolve it either. As a few people have said, they confirmed it is to do with alphanumeric sender details.

Not sure if I should post this here. I got the same open SMS and it automatically close. Yes, the problem seems to be the messages from the alphanumeric sender. The only to solve this problem without totally resetting your iPhone is to delete that problematic SMS. And to do that, you'll have to jailbreak your iphone and install a nice little 3rd party program called "SMSD". It would allow you access to your SMS again, and find that problematic message and delete it. Once you do that, the iPhone SMS will run normally again. And to prevent the problem from happening again, there is another 3rd pary program called "SMS Fix" that you can download and it will fix the messages from alphanumeric senders.
Again, I know I shouldn't write down where to find these programs. But google it and you'll find it.
