My power adapter just stopped working

My power adapter was working earlier today, it was plugged in and charging. But all of a sudden it stopped working. It won't charge at all now. Does anyone know what the problem could be.

Does it have a light on at the MagSafe end? If it does what color is it? What does it show in the menu bar? Try using a different wall outlet. Check the following.

Use and cleaning of MagSafe power connector

You might try to reset the SMC (System Management Controller) and/or PRAM (Parameter Random Access Memory). Mac OS X: What's stored in PRAM?

If none of this works you should call Apple service for help.

Hey my battery has had the same problem for quite a while now except when I push the battery into the computer it can recognize it for the short period I push on it. I tried the battery update and that does nothing for it. I'm just wondering if i do have to travel the 150kms to Calgary or Edmonton or if they can just pick it up or send a new battery?

my computer was dead, so i plugged the charger in and turned it on. the icon shows an x where it should show the charging image, and the light is constantly green instead of orange. if i unplug the charger the computer dies. any suggestions?

Have you done the battery update? About Battery Update 1.2.

How many battery cycles does your battery have on it? Determining Battery Cycle Count

Also check MacBook: Battery not recognized or "X" icon appears on menu bar
for help.

If none of this works contact Apple at the number listed in the update.

I would call Apple Support Canada (English) 1-800-263-3394. I'm not sure what they do it there but I called Apple Support and they sent me a new battery and then I returned the old one in the prepaid box. If I had not sent the old one in they would have charged me for it. The whole process from calling to getting the battery was four days.

You might also want to check the battery contacts and be sure their clean.
