Why not try X-Plane from www.x-plane.com - it's available for Mac OS X as well as Windows & Linux. I only have X-Plane as my Mac is a G5 so won't run Microsoft's Flight Sim. In any case, my two brothers-in-law have PCs and so have both Sims and they (and many other users) both agree that X-Plane is a much more realistic simulator - there's even an FAA version approved for real-world pilot training, but you need some serious add-on hardware to use this version as it has to simulate a real-world cockpit and controls. Howver, the simulator itself is the same as the 'cooking' version.

There are lively forums dealing with Technical aspects of the Sim and of flying in general, Features (desirable enhancements), general Chat and News (announcement of updates, new aircraft releases from many designers etc.).

I thoroughly recommend it. Oh, and by the way, you can also fly on Mars using a sepecially designed Mars rocket 'plane and a Mars jet 'plane. And all the tools are provided for you to design, build, decorate and fly your own 'planes.

There's a free demo download available from the X-Plane website so you can try it out before you buy the full version.
