not everybody has been having problems with the 1.02 update, you may have a faulty ipod, or corrupted sorftware that is causing it to freeze, try restoring it,
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=60983 this may work!
I had to resore my ipod already since getting it a short time ago already. The software/hardware with classics 9mine being 160 gig) is the worst ever - looks more like beta software/hardware product that needed some work prior to release. i have had 3 ipods so far - all three had trouble - but NEVER out of the box like this one..
I have also had terrible problems since 1.0.2 has been released. When you try to eject the ipod it goes into a reset mode - where it shows the apple screen and after about 8 seconds restarts again. They only way out of it is to go to disk mode and restore.
Sounds like I was somewhat lucky, then. When I tried to install the update, it ejected the iPod, and then told me the update failed to install due to an unknown error. I guess maybe I should be grateful for small favors...iPod still works, and synced new music fine after I clicked "No" the next time it asked if I wanted the update installed.
I just bought an Ipod Classic 80G yesterday at my local Apple store came home, charged it up, applied the 1.02 update and so far have had no problems. I guess I've been lucky.
same here. my 160g was fine until 1.0.2. now it just freezes for no reasons. i restored once. is there a way to restore to 1.0.1? please help. this is utterly bs. i want to run my car over this piece of trash.
