iTunes doesn't open when iPod Touch is connected

Well I have windows so this may not work. On iTunes>Devices>iPod Touch there should be a box that says something like open iTunes when connected. check it

Have you checked that you have the newest Itunes installed? (version 7.04). Also Ipod Touch works with Mac OS 10.4.

I have similar problem. The first time when I plug in my ipod touch to start the set up, it keeps opening the iPhoto and won't load in to the iTunes. Turn out I have a 10.3 system. I went to my PC and hooked it up. Voila! it runs iTunes automatically just like my older ipod.

Try creating a new user account on your computer and see if itunes will open when the ipod touch is connected.

i would say who cares, but yea it does do that on mine too. I guess ipod touch isnt really an ipod is it? more of a devise or an external computer.

Here's what worked for me. You need to check your user account and click the icon at the top that says "login items." Look in the list and see if "ituneshelper.app" is listed; if it it NOT listed you need to add it (so keep this window open). Here's how to do that: go to your application folder and highlight itunes, secondary click it and select "show package contents" after that opens, go to the contents folder and then go to the resource folder. In the resource folder you will see "Ituneshelper" drag iTunesHelper to the login items. Close it up, and then reboot.

Now connect your ipod/touch or whatever with itunes closed and it SHOULD open..be sure you've chosen open itunes when ipod is connected. It worked for me, and hope it works for everyone else.

also happens to me in win xp - my firmware is still 1.1.1

I use windows as well so in Windows, I think, you need to look in the itunes program directory and look for the ituneshelper.exe file or whatever it's called and add it to "start-up" programs in windows so that it's loaded during the boot-up/start-up process.
