I've foolishly thrown away the packaging for my iWork '08. In trying to register it, need the MPN. I have the CD, manual, and registration number, but no got the MPN. Can anyone tell what should be the MPN for iWork '08 Retail? Thanks.

Mac OS X (10.4.10)

    ducky,

    Welcome to Apple discussions.

What is it you need the marketing part number for? You don't need it to register the product.

Yes do need it, for the 3rd or 4th panel of the registration drill.

Thought I had finished registration when I installed the software, but it quit working (would not present new documents or open existing) after about a month. So thought perhaps had been running off the demo version and so went to Register in iPages pulldown menu and started through it. Same brickwall in Pages, Keynote, & Numbers.

Sooo.... is there a standard stock MPN for iWork '08? Tks.

The marketing part number for the single-user package is MA790Z/A, for the family pack it is MA791Z/A. The only way I've ever been able to find the marketing part number online is to add the item to my cart then edit the cart where it will then show the number & I can remove the item. This is how I just found the single-user number for you. The family pack number is from my Apple Store invoice.

I never even think to use the registration web page for Apple software, I just assume when I put in the serial number & it says my registration was sent to Apple, that's it. And I've been using iWork '08 on the family pack license since I got it around August 11 without any further registration.

Odd. I've registered every Apple product I own, never once entering a marketing part number.

If you go to the Apple Product Registration page, one of the steps asks for the part number. If you just register through the software, like we did with iWork or with a new OS X installation, you don't need it.

Good to know. I wasn't even aware there was a product registration page. Why would anyone use it, as opposed to registering through the software?

Registering hardware, like keyboards & mice, come to mind.

    Dear all,

I've just bought iLife 08 & iWork 08 from my local apple premium reseller. When the installation is finished, iWork ask me to input the serial number and then installation is completed. But it seems iLife does not need any serial number.

And I could not find any MPM numbers in both packages and I cannot register through register.apple.com. How to tell if I am running the demo version or not ?

    thank you !!
    Andrew.

    Shugo,

    Welcome to Apple discussions.

It's hard to tell from the wording of your question if the demo version you're referring to is for iWork or iLife. At any rate, it's easy to tell: 1) if you successfully plugged your serial number into iWork, you're no longer using the demo version; 2) as far as I know, there is no demo version of iLife. And no serial number is necessary.
