MP3 Player not detected by Macbook

I have an Archos Gmini XS202s mp3 player, which I've been quite happily using on my PC for a while now, but when I plug it into my Mac, the player says it's connected, but the Mac doesn't show anything on the desktop, and the Finder doesn't show anything either.

If I go into 'About this Mac', and then 'More Info', it shows the Gmini connected to the Hi-speed USB, but I can't access it.
The mp3 player doesn't need any software.

I'm a new Mac User, so I could just be doing something really stupid, but I would appreciate any help.

Thanks for the quick response!

According to the Archos website, all Gminis are Mac compatible. The only other thing mentioned is:

"MACINTOSH USERS
You must update your operating system to a minimum require of: MacOS 9.2 or later MacOS 10.2.4 Jaguar or later MacOS 10.3 Panther or later"

Which I have (as far as i know)

Any other ideas?

This is from the Archos site:

Macintosh™ OS X

If you have OS X, you must update to version 10.3.9 or newer. You must also change the Gmini™’s USB Port setting to ‘Hard Disk’. From the main menu, go to Setup>System>USB Port and change it to ‘Hard Disk’.

You will now simply plug the Gmini™ into your Macintosh® as enumerated above, and
within a few seconds, the Gmini™ will be recognized as a mass storage device (Hard Disk)and mount on the desktop. You can now use the hard drive called Gmini XS202 like any other external hard drive.
