how to insert track marker into song

Does anybody know if it is possible to insert track marker into middle of song in itunes? For example, I have recorded a song in pro tools & transfered it into itunes. The song has a very long intro, I would like the intro to have its own track number. I don't want to record the song & the intro seperately as I want the intro to transition smoothly into the song without interuption. Is this possible or do I need an external cd burner?

Thanks for the response. How could I split the song into two files? In doing so would there be a period of silence between the two before the second track cues if they are played in order?

No, because iTunes now has gapless playback. (You might see a gap on an older iPod, though.) To split the track, it'd be easiest to do it in an external program, like GarageBand, but within iTunes:

1) Get Info on the track and go to the Options tab.
2) Set the Stop Time to the moment you want the track to split.
3) Use "Convert selection to..." from the Advanced menu to make a new track that stops at that point.
4) Get Info again, then set the Stop Time to the end of the track, and the Start Time to whatever the Stop Time was in step 2.
5) Convert again to get the second part of the track.
6) Get Info again and set the Start Time back to zero.

That should do it...
