How in the world do you calculate a percentage on this phone? Am I missing something?

Use the decimal equivalent of your percentage.

For example, to find 50% of 25 multiply 25 by .50 to get 12.5.

Or to find 75% multiply by .75 etc.

The same way you would calculate a percentage on any calculator. If you want to know 15% of 250, multiply 250 * 0.15.

You are not missing anything, you just have to multiply, let's say you want to find out how much is 15% of X, you multiply X with 0.15, the percentage sign is overated

Does anyone believe that was a serious question? The OP has the scratch to buy an iPhone but doens't know simple arithmetic?

So you think if someone asks a question that everyone should know we should just ignore it and do not help ?
"Will my 20 by 16 photo fit in this 16 by 20 frame?"
That is another question that I was asked and it was for real, so this OP's question does not sound that bad after all. And having 500 $ to buy a phone does not make you good at math

Or is a product of the modern schools where they don't teach the basics and let students use calculators from day one.
