Non-musical Ringtones

Is there a legitimate way to get non-musical ringtones on my iPhone? I hate having songs for ringtones. I like to associate normal ringtones with the people who call (i.e. the alarm sound for my mother because she's always calling with an emergency) but I'm running out of stock ringtones.

I'd even be willing to pay a small amount for them. A 10-pack for $.99 sounds like a good price to me.

Anyone know if this is currently possible, or in the works?

Force, you do bring up a great idea, but you're going to need to tell apple about it:

Just select the iPhone and tell them what you want.

Before the times of iTunes 7.3.2 and before firmware 1.1.1 you could make your own songs, sounds, midi files, etc in garage band, transform them into an .m4a, revert into an .m4r and transfer it to your iPhone.

For instance before all of the updates I had utilized the telephone ring used as a sound in "iMovie", which was the ringer heard in the older iPhone commercials. All you had to do was transfer the aiff file into a m4a, and BAM, new ringtone.

You may want to look at the 3rd party application iToner, to get whatever ringtones you want to create.

Just make it quick, because with every software update I'm sure they will lock this phone down like a 16 year old's chastity belt.

good luck!
