iPod AV Connection Kit (MA242LL/A vs. MA242LL/C)?

Can anybody shed some light on the confusing state Apple has left with the new iPods (Class, nano, Touch) with Docks and A/V cables???
I purchased a "iPod AV Connection Kit" model MA242LL/A, and it works with the Classic but not with the Touch (I'm specifically talking about video output). The Classic's video only works however when plugged into the dock and the A/V cable is plugged into the dock (i.e. The video doesn't work if you just plug the cable directly into the ipod.
I now see there is a MA242LL/C out - is this any different from the "A" model?
The box doesn't specifically say it works with the Classic or the touch, but I don't see anything like it that says it supports the Classic or touch....??

I have an 80GB classic and the /C model. When I plug the AV cable into the iPod itself, I get only audio, but it seems to work as advertised in the dock.

I know that the AV cables for the new iPod models use the dock connector rather than the headphone jack connector. Since the dock/remote, when it comes to videos, is pretty much only useful for pausing and resuming the video, I'll probably end up exchanging this kit for just the cable. Maybe I'll get a dock later.
