hdsc card won't show up on desktop

The card is an HDSC 4gig. The files are HD (720) video files taken on a Sanyo Xacti hd1a camera. I know the card and reader are good. Reader has successfully read regular SD cards and is SDHC compatible. Am I missing a plug in to allow my computer to read this? Trying to import to imovie.

macbook pro, Mac OS X (10.4.10)

I would suggest you try inserting your card in your camera and connecting the camera. You should then see the card on your desktop.

Thanks for the reply. I've tried that. The Sanyo Xacti HD camera doesn't have a firewire or usb port on the camera. It only has a usb port on the charging base. I tried plugging it in, but it neither showed up on the computer nor in the record option in imove (the camera wasn't listed as a record-from source under the camera icon either).
