You have the option for the time to set Automatically. Also, you can set Time Zone Support to ON and specify your time zone.
My clock/ time keeps changing on its own. It is becoming a problem as today my alarm clock did not go off because somehow during the night it changed times? This has happened 3 times. Anyone else having this problem?

Look in Settings-General-Date & Time

Based on the number of discussion related to this problem, I'd say it is a bug.
I have mine set with: "Set Automatically"=ON, and "Time Zone Support"=OFF.
It changes times on me. After setting it to Automatic the time is correct. A few hours later (same location) the time has changed.
My old cellphone didn't seem to have a problem with this. The iPhone does.
As an airline pilot, this is completely unacceptable. I need this phone to work. Looking for the software fix.

One other thing...
Right now, I have it on "Automatic=ON". It shows 10:15pm (Salt Lake Time).
Now, I switch it to "Automatic=OFF". It shows 9:16pm (Salt Lake Time).
What sense does that make. Seems that an OLD manual setting presists in the system, even after switching to automatic.
Yeah, I know what you're thinking... Set the manual to the correct time, and then go back to automatic. Yep... tried it. NOPE... Still reverts back to 9:16pm in Manual. DOH!!!
OK Apple. The iPhone is new, so we expect bugs. However, we expect quick responses to simple things like getting the time right. Thanks.
PS: And while you're at it, you might investigate why the Automatic time is sometimes off by 2 minutes. That error in unheard of in this decade.

You are not the only one with these issues. I am in southern California and cities in my time zone are off by one hour in World Clock..essentially throwing the entire world clock off. The only way around this is to manually set the time. It works but is sure a pain in the neck when I travel. Here is a similar thread. http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1105205&tstart=45
I have similar problems.
The world clock (which I have set to show pacific (San Diego), mountain (Denver), central (New Orleans), and eastern (NYC) time, is consistently behind by 7 hours. Example: right now it is 5:53 pm PST; the world clock thinks local time is 10:53 am.
The clock at the top of my phone is correct.
SMS messages that go out get timestamped correctly, but the incoming messages are stamped ahead by 7 hours. Example: I received a text message at 5:26 pm; the message says I received it at 12:26 am tomorrow.
Voice mail is behaving the same way as the SMS. It's really irritating. I tried a software restore in iTunes but it has not fixed the problem; yet I am certain that the iPhone was performing correctly up until a few days ago.
Who else has seen this kind of bug? Any word on whether Apple has recognized the issue?

I did not do anything to my iPhone and the problem did correct itself. Does anyone know if the time is based on what is being passed by at&t?
Petey, I would say that you and I have different issues. My World Clock was only off by an hour.

I checked the clocks a few moments ago and found them to be properly synchronized. I took no actions to make this happen.
boggled

...and as of yesterday they're screwed up again. 😟
Hi everyone,
I just had my iPhone for less than twelve (12) hours now and my initial Date & Time configurations are as follows:
+Date & Time+
+24-Hour Time - Off+
+Set Automatically - Off+
+Time Zone - Manila > Manila, Philippines+
+Set Date & Time - {manually updated after purchase}+
Calendar
+Time Zone Support - On+
+Time Zone - Manila > Manila, Philippines+
I will keep you guys posted if I ever experience the problems discussed in this thread within the next few days.
Thank you.

I got my iphone a few days back and am running into this issue consistently. When I start my phone it gets the correct time from at&t tower. Then after a couple of hours the time is off by 15 to 30 mins. What I have to do is to either restart the phone or to go to airline mode on and then off. That way it tries to search for network and connect again.
Is my iPhone bad? Should I return it?

Having the same problem here. Time just randomly jumps around on its own. I can fix it by cycling "set automatically." But - looks like a bug. Pretty frustrating one too.
The problem is back. Grr...
My problem is that we have 3 machines on our network all set to set automatically with the Apple Europe time server. All 3 machines read a different time. For example at the same instant this afternoon, one read 15.14, one 15.20 and the other 15.27.
I seem to recall in previous incarnations of the Date & Time control panel you could click a button to 'Get time now'. That seems to have gone.
Is there any way to force the clocks to synchronise with the time server?

My iPhone from time to time, the clock/time is "sticky" and this can cause problems. I use the iPhone as my alarm clock - good thing I was up already! I have it set to alarm at 4:59 AM, and became, uh, alarmed, when it didn't. The clock showed 10:32PM, the clock has been wildly off prior but this is a problem that needs to be fixed.
I might try going back to a manual setting-of-time and see if that works for the interim. I was first miffed that iPhone was consistently two-minutes slow compared to GPS time, and thought the various software updates remedied that.
