Ipod connection to VW SatNav

I have more or less the same problem. New Golf GTi in September 2007, and iPod nano 8GB worked perfectly straight away (although I'm a bit ****** off about the lack of functionality and track listings etc) but yesterday, the sat-nav head unit claimed " no CD" by which it meant it could no longer read the iPod. I've turned everything off and on etc to no effect and haven't yet had chance to visit the dealer (although my car is an import) but I 'phoned one who said "it's probably your iPod, sir!" I'm going to take it in tomorrow so if anything helps I'll respond. I wondered about pulling the sat-nav fuse and then re-installing the data...

I took my car to VW Leeds on Friday 2nd November for checking. By lunch-time it was fixed. The receptionist said "they had replaced IT" and I assumed the head-unit. However, on driving off, all my sat-nav addresses etc were still there, so I guess it must have been the iPod / armrest dock that was replaced. Anyway, it all works again, although a new message appears before it kicks in saying "check". So sorry, didn't come away with a DIY fix but at least my "imported" car is now on the VW system and I think they like to earn money from warranty and service work!
