Thickness of underlinen in Pages

Pages in iWork 08. New iMac with OS X Tiger. In one document, I have some words underlined. The underline is so thin and faint I can hardly see it on the screen, although the rest of the text shows up just fine. In another document, same font and font size as the first document, the underline is just fine, consistent with the font. In neither is the text bolded or different in any other way. I do not find anyplace where the weight/thickness of the underline can be adjusted or set. Anyone have a suggestion?

What happens if you cut and paste text between the two documents? Try pasting both with cmd-v and Edit > Paste and Match Style.

You may be aware of the following, but just in case: underlines are usually not considered "correct" in printed text. Underlining text is mostly something for handwritten text or text written on typewriters. The equivalent in printed text is bold and italics.

It's not a rule you always need to follow of course. Sometimes underline gives just that special effect you are after.
