Ipod compatibility with a CD player via USB .... Help!!

I've recently bought a new cd player where you can connect an mp3 player/iPod to it, via usb, so you can play music through it, but when i connect my ipod it comes up with 'Do Not Disconnect' and i can't play the music that i want to - it seems to shuffle the songs, but in the same order everytime. I can't get to individual albums or playlists. I was just wondering if anyone knew how to overcome this problem, or if it's just the way life goes?! Thanks.

i think it is a bit confused, your CD player should be in fact a mini stereo system, it will pick up the music signal from an iPod or a MP3 players. A pure CD player cant do it as it can play sound from the CD itself and not offering any input from other device.

You can overcome it, but you have to connect your iPod via its earphone jack and not its dock with the aux in of your CD system (not via USB).
