ya cameron and tikigiant i tried cleaning up the messages. but like, when my phone is locked and a new message comes through, and when i unlock my phone it goes to the white screen and 4 or 5 seconds later the message/ chat conversation fnally comes up, i dont remember it taking so long on my first iphone before i had to replace it. im hoping another update will help this or something. i really dont want to have to replace this as well... by the way tikigiant nice win last night.. only one game behind my coyboys now 🙂

actually, tiki is in reference to, a Tiki...and the giantis in reference to the SF Giants. =-)

However, I do hate the Cowboys!!! Somehow, in my life, I became a BRowns fan, so football has been a pretty uninteresting ride for me for quite some time now!!!! =)

I just tried my Text Feature....not sure if you are exagerratting, but when I open it up, the screen is white for 2 seconds. That is on a text message chain that is about 4 good speed finger flicks in length.

dang, well alright will u do me a favor, can u clear all your messages and then back out to homescreen, then click sms. how long does it take for it to automatically come up with the keyboard for a new message? mine takes about a second, maybe a little longer. on my first one i thought i remembered the keyboard popped up right away if the inbox was empty. does this do this for u?

bg- I think you are experiencing normal lag in your applications loading up. However, you can always go into Settings and clear some things out, like in Safari and mail. Little things tend to go a long way. If it continues to bother you that much, take it in to the Apple store. Although I really think it is just a normal time to get the text. I've also noticed that it takes a little longer when you've just received the text than if you wait a bit.

cameron u might be right, but do u mind trying what i asked tiki to try? why does it take so long to come up? kind of a hassle... like i said earler when my phone is locked and i get a new message and i unlock my phone.. the delay is noticeable... i dont know maybe im just being nit picky? i dont think so though, i usaully dont care about things like that, just annoying i guess. if i were to take it into the store what would i say/do?

BG- I've noticed the delay too so you are not the only one. However at times I do think I'm being too nit picky. Going from the Home screen to the SMS screen takes about a second and when you receive a text when the phone has been sleeping it takes a few seconds more. Having hacked and modded the iPhone in 1.0.2 I know that there are several screens and things that have to load up before the page that you need to see is visible. If you were to take it in to Apple I would imagine they would test some things about connection and clean out some things. If you're in Dallas, go by Knox, they have an amazingly helpful staff.

Just for you, cause I am such a nice guy, I went in and deleted ALL of my text messages (wow, I had a lot more than I thought).

When I push the SMS icon, I instantly go into the messages wioth no real lag at all.

As others have stated, just go cleanup everything.

I would also try a reset....push and hold the home button with the sleep button till the Apple appears....this may also speed things back up. Just like a computer you leave on a long time....it will start to lag until you reboot or defrag.
