Enable mod_rewrite

I am working on a Joomla install and in order to get the SEF to function properly I need to enable mod_rewrite on my server. I have read that .htaccess is not enabled by default, but I cannot find anything to tell me how to enable it!!

I found one article from 2004, but the information I was supposed to find in the file and change was non-existant.

Can anybody help

Many, Mac OS X (10.4.8)

KrayZ,

Just read your post...are you using the base SEO .htaccess lines for your Joomla site, or are you using a 3rd party SEO?

I have mod_rewrite active on my server, and no matter what I try, I can't get them to work. 😟

I wonder if you could post the contents of your .htaccess file so I could compare them to mine?
