Can´t copy VIDEO_TS folder, no playback under Windows

Hi everyone,

up to now, I have worked with DVD Studio 4 which was perfect.
Yesterday however I used the new DVD Studio Pro 4 (latest updates applied) and now run into the following issues:

- The DVD plays back fine on a hardware DVD-Player
- It does however not play back on Windows Media Player or VLC
- Futhermore I cannot copy the Video_TS folder to my harddisk

Trying to copy the folder shows a file system error "-2147351799". This indicates a copy protection error, but I am not aware that I have setup anything like this.

Furthermore, VLC Player stops after playing the first few frames with a bunch of error codes like:
dvdread error: read failed for -1/4 blocks at 0xe8
main warning: dts != current_pts (-273000)
main warning: backward_pts != current_pts (-40000)
dvdnav warning: cannot get next block (Error reading from DVD.)
main debug: thread 4504 joined (input/input.c:412)
main warning: unable to find parent!

Does this mean, the used DVD is defective or have I done something wrong?

Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks a lot in advance!

kind regards
Tom

Hi Alberto,

thank you for your reply! Well, I did try to copy the original Video_TS folder from the DVD I have burnt and that´s what has caused the errors. Furthermore, I also tried to open the folder via VLC, but to no avail.

I will try to rebuild everything again with another DVD media and hope that it works then... oh well, it s Windows 😉

Thanks
Tom

If you tried to copy a VIDEO_TS folder off of your hard drive onto a DVD using the standard Mac disc burning utility, then that is the problem. Video DVDs have their own unique formtting (UDF). Using the standard Mac disc burning will not create a UDF disc. DVD SP will properly format the disc. Toast can properly format a UDF disc from your VIDEO_TS folder.

If I have to burn a whole bunch of DVDs, I will create the first using DVD SP, then use the Copy function of Toast to burn all the rest.
