The test drive version is simply that... a test drive to see if you want Office.

To remove the test drive version you need to run the uninstaller.

  1. Quit any open Microsoft Office applications.
  2. Open the Remove Test Drive or Remove Office application (/Applications/Microsoft Office X).
  3. Click Remove when prompted to remove Office Test Drive. Note: This moves Office Test Drive software to the Trash.
  4. Click the Finder's icon in the Dock.
  5. Choose Finder > Empty Trash.

After i have clicked the remove office from the office test drive folder:

the following microsoft office installations or preference files were found on your computer. select the check box next to each installation or set of preferences you want to remove.
1. microsoft office 98
2. microsoft office 2001
3. microsoft office X (including test drive)
4. microsoft office 2004 (including test drive)

If i were to proceed, it will seem like i would erase all office components. Advise required...

Thanks very much

Hi, I brought the original microsoft office together with the iBook from authorised dealer.

the problem here is that whenever i double-click a office document, the microsoft office will start and finally it will ask me to buy a new office. otherwise it just close the microsoft office software.

All these months, the trick that i tried is to open the office manually and then open the respective office document to bypass that problem.

Advise needed!

Hello again, Don't you just love pre-installed demos??? Reminds me of PC's. Please don't shoot the messenger...I did some searching and read many forums about removing testdrive after you installed the real deal....one conclusion.....
Your pretty much HOSED!!!!

You need to deleted both and re-install the one you bought. Don't worry so much from what I have read, you will not lose any documents. If you use Entourage as your Mail client you might want to copy the "Microsoft Users Data" folder in your Documents file to disc or external..all your addresses, calender..etc. Other than that any custom templates or such will be lost too if not copied to another disc or computer.

Cheers,
Glynn

try deleting from the finder folder. worst, can't even open the office document.

placed back the test drive office software, & it's back to normal.

1. do i need the test drive software to keep the microsoft office to run.
2. if not, how can i remove the test drive software that come with the MAC iBook G$
3. Why I can't double-click the office document (it always say trial version is over & i have to renew the microsoft office)

Thanks
