I am having problems logging on to the internet. I keep getting server not responding messages. I've had my iphone for a month now and this is the first time this has happened. I am getting reception: edge and full bars. Does it have anything to do w/ vpn network?
VPN: virtual private network...I think business use it because it's a more secure network. I don't think you need that. Were you ever able to access the internet without using Edge? Have you checked your network settings?
I've never used the wi-fi connection. But the network settings only offer the wi-fi option and the vpn one. Is there a place to check the settings for edge?
I think edge works anytime, althought you can turn it off. You should be using wi-fi. Go into settings and turn it on. Turn VPN off, if you haven't already.
VPN (Virtual Private Network) is a "tunneling" protocol that connects the iPhone directly to a corporate internal network by creating an encrypted connection between the device and the internal network. If VPN is enabled all access is through the remote network; the iPhone cannot access the Internet except as allowed by the internal network. So essentially all communications goes first to the internal network, then back out to the Internet. If you turn on VPN and you are not connected to a remote network it will essentially mean you cannot access the internet.
