Import vCal categories into iCal

I'm trying to migrate a Palm Desktop calendar to iCal via vCal file. My Palm Desktop calendar has many categories, which got merged into a single calendar in iCal and the category information was no longer available. I would like to be able to retain category information after the migration (one iCal calendar for each Palm Dekstop category).

Is there any existing tool that takes a single vCal file containing multiple event categories and generate multiple vCal files, one for each category? Or is there some other way of getting the results I want?

Create multiple "calendars" in the box on the upper left, and name them as your categories. Make sure they are all checked. Then adjust your entries using the info button, and select a "calendar" by color depending on what category you want.

Thanks for the reply. I have years of events in the Palm Desktop calendar so I'd prefer not to manually change the calendar assignment for every single event. I'd rather write my own parser to split the vCal file but if there's already some tools available I don't have to go through that trouble either.
