Airport Utility 4.2 and 5.0 cannot find Airport Base Station

I have a Macbook with OS X 10.4.10. I've been trying to do airport admin on an old snow Airport Base Station.

I've tried connecting a ethernet to my computer and LAN connected to airport. Nothing.

I've reconfig for ethernet and airport connection. Nothing.

I've trying airport utility 5.0 and 4.2 and rescan and it still can't find the airport. I'm just boggled.

PLEASE HELP!!!

13" Macbook White, Mac OS X (10.4.10)

My situation is a bit different (OS 10.5, trying to administer the graphite BS at my mom's), but maybe my solution will work for you. I don't get anywhere with the new Airport Utility. Using the old Airport Admin Utility, it doesn't see the BS anymore, even though I'm connecting using it. Rescan doesn't help. But, if I click the "Other" button, use an IP address of 10.0.1.1, which it supplies, and enter the password, it opens and works normally.

Don -
I can't thank you enough for the "Configure Other..." solution of using the 10.1...etc IP address. That worked like a charm. Would it be too much to ask to have Apple mention ANYWHERE in their documentation that older base stations will not show up on Airport Utility?
