!@#$%^&*()_+<>?! Any way to confirm a call before actually calling it?

This is driving me and everyone else I know who has an iPhone nuts. When I'm in my recent call list (or favorites), if I accidentally touch an entry that is right next to the one I intended to call the iPhone immediately begins calling and I have to either scramble to hit "end call" or explain to the peron on the other end why I keep accidientally calling them (sometimes at embarrassing hours of the night). Is there anyway to set a preference so that you have to CONFIRM a selection before it actually starts dialing the number. Kind of a second chance "safety" switch. Somebody please tell me this is possible before I throw this iPhone out of my car. Thanks.

PS: Except for the problem described above and both the ear and hands-free volume being way too low, most everything else about the iPhone is great so far.

I had this frustration as well. I was always (and sometimes still) calling people that I just wanted to look @ info on. As the poster above stated, I realized that I had to hit the little blue arrow to the right of the name. For fat fingered guys (is that kinda like fat bottomed girls??? Sorry if you're too young to get that) it would be nice to have a setting to confirm calls. Oh well, my two cents....good luck. Ciao

I don't think it's the phone's fault. In fact, it's working perfectly. I understand that I'm hitting the wrong selection. My point is that due to the list of entries being very close together, combined with movement, or trying to scroll through the list without touching a name, it's not always easy to select the entry I'm intending to call. I'm simply asking if a "confirm" type of feature/preference setting exists and if so, how to engage it. If it doesn't exist, myself and everyone else I know who has an iPhone wishes Apple would include this type of feature in an update. Remember, most every other phone on the market doesn't have this problem because you have a two step process of scrolling to a selection and then hitting "call".

Actually,

It seems like the accidental presses, to you, are unavoidable (although in my experience and in those of my peers who own iPhones, we believe there's nothing wrong with the Favorites or Recents)...

In order to keep your accidental presses from actually making the calls, just maneuver those menus keeping your fingers to the right side of the screen. In both menus, tapping a name directly initiates the call... but if you keep to the right, your taps will initiate secondary menus. Just watch where your fingers land, and the "Confirm" feature is not necessary.

+Here's an example: In my Favorites, each of my contacts there has an accompanied label called "mobile" and a blue arrow. I scroll and select names keeping my fingers to the right, so if you make an "accident", no worries, the iPhone just responds by taking you to a secondary menu like the Contact Info for that particular contact. Hope this makes sense.+

But if you +*really really really really really really*+ feel like this is something all of us _absolutely positively_ need anyway, then just send your thoughts to Apple directly:

If you're having problems with fingerpresses being inaccurate, it might be the agles you're pressing. I have noticed that when I try to press with a wimpy little touch of the tip of my finger that it can be innaccurate. But when I give it a manly confident press at a comfortable angle it's usually accurate. As strange as it sounds, if you're more confident with your press touching a larger area of screen, the more accurate you are.
