does the burner wearout?

Yes, your Superdrive can wear out from over-heating. I would suggest you burn two or three at a time, then let the Superdrive cool down for 30 minutes (coffee break!) before you carry on.

Burners can over heat and you should rest it about 15 minutes or more between burns when you are doing a large volume.

I was just about to ask the same question.

A client is asking for disc in batches of 10 at a time, but I only have a superdrive in my MacBookPro.

Are they more prone to overheat in laptops? Or as already stated above... do 1 then wait 15 mins and do another?

I think it probably varies somewhat with the efficiency of your computer fan and whatnot. But Klaus has got it right. On my computer, I can usually burn 3 or 4 in a row, and then I start getting errors. When I rest it for 15 minutes or so, I can start burning again. But after this happens sometimes it will only let me burn one without needing a short rest. If I let it rest for an hour or two, then I can burn 3 or 4 in a row again. Just have to play it by ear.

I haven't tried this, but you might get better burn efficiency if you keep your burner clean. There are products for this.
