iChat on iPhone

Not at this time.

iChat is not on the iPhone beacuse they want you to pay for text messaging instead of using the free IM services.

The theory is that they are waiting for Leopard on the iPhone -- I've heard it said that with the SDK in February this will also be released.

Just a rumor, though.

Well I believe it was more of a battery concern more than anything else and like apple said its a risk for security reasons as iPhone will be an easy target for anyone. And putting iChat without knowing the potential risks would have made the iPhone the next big hit for virus and I doubt AT&T would have wanted that. So I think apple is working on it. Its hard to avoid viruses from Instant messaging and apple is fairly new to the mobile phone industry so I think theyre just trying to avoid issues like that.

hmm we'll see. I think Apple will eventually have iChat for iPhone its just a matter of time.

I don't know about any others. I use yahoo. Yahoo has a web based instant messinger. This allows you to chat in real time without the expense of pay per message. You sign up online an yahoo sends a link to your phone. I suggest checking it out.

Don't allow people to use any apps they want to, no wonder Apple is secure.

Saying that, once I am able to use flash, and if they give the functionality of sending pictures via messaging, I will be a very happy camper. Well, I will be getting a fm transmitter next week, so that too.
